Does Xbox 360 case mod increase value?

I have an xbox 360 and am getting very bored of looking at the boring old white color. I want to make a case mod, but I was wondering what that would do to the value if I sold it. I know I will sell it, just not how soon. I am thinking either E-bay or a secondhand electronic entertainment shop like Last Stop CD Shop.

Xbox 360 Case mod help!!?

Hi, I’m gonna try and do a custom case mod by myself, but only have some idea of how to do it!! First of all, what kind of tools and materials would I need? What size/kind of glass? What kind/size lights? Should I get a better fan? What kind of tools to cut out the design? If anyone can answer these questions please do or any link that has a good tutorial would be much appreciated. Thanks for all your help, Josh.
I have searched on youtube for a good tutorial that would show me how to cut open the case but couldn’t find one.

Well Josh i’ll try to help you the best i can.

To cut the actual case i usually use a dremel with a cutting wheel, i round the corners with a sanding barrel and then i sand all edges with 600 grit sandpaper. I use 1mm thick plexi, cut it with the dremel cutting wheel and then break off the edges with my fingers. For the inside of the case you need to get everything out of the way, all the little plastic reinforced runners should be cut out and sanded.

I use plastic epoxy to fix the plexi to the case (hot glue just doesn’t do it). After i mix my epoxy and spread the expoxy i line up the window and make sure the edges are making contact. I then put something heavy (like my $800 burned up turbo….paperweight now) on the plexi so it has a little bit of pressure holding the plexi flat against the xbox surface.

There’s a picture on how i ran the lighting for my friends xbox. Usually i make my own custom led array with 3mm leds and a sickmods led board. This time i was just lazy and used an aurora light kit.

You can see to keep the wires neat and organized i used hot glue. You want to be careful using hotglue because it can actually melt the soldered connections on the led boards.

You want to find a nice 5v spot on the motherboard, i usually tap the bipolar transistor up near the front corner by the dvd drive. You need to of course calculate the resistor you need for your led array. If this is too far over your head you can just buy a prewired kit like the talismoon aurora i showed you earlier.

For the ring of light and the controller leds you need size 0603 smd leds.

You want your voltage to be inbetween 2.6v-3.4v if you are going for a blue or purple get the brighter leds.
