Can regular XBOX 360 wireless controllers be used on windows pc?

I want to buy an XBOX 360 Wireless controller for when I play Legend of Zelda and Halo for Windows PC. I saw that there were Wireless controllers for Windows and im just wondering if a regular non windows version will work on PC
